Transportation in Dublin

Travel tickets - LEAP cards

International House Dublin recommends that all students purchase a LEAP card to avail of cheaper fares. You can purchase these from most newsagents or the Dublin Bus Office on O'Connell Street.  A weekly ticket €40 gives you unlimited access to all types of public transport - which comes in handy for the social programme too!

Bus

Dublin Bus service serves all areas of the city from approximately 05.30 - 23.30 daily. Single journey bus tickets can be purchased on board the bus, however fares are cheaper with a LEAP card.  You can download the Dublin Bus app to your phone for live bus timetable information.

Tram

The Luas service runs two routes in Dublin City.  You can check the operating hours here. Fares depend on your route and distance travelled, and cheaper fares are available with a LEAP card.  You need to remember to 'tap on' at the beginning of your journey and 'tap off' at the end!

Train

The DART service runs along the coast line, north and south of the city and also to the west.  Fares depend on your journey and distance traveled, and are cheaper with a LEAP card.
